What is a hair and makeup trial?

Defintion: Hair and makeup trials are preliminary run- throughs of the wedding beauty look. Similar to dress rehearsals, they serve to test out and refine the bride’s hair and makeup, so there aren’t any snags on the big day.

As your big day inches closer, a wedding hair and makeup trial will provide an early glimpse of how you will look. As with many other wedding details, timing your hair and makeup trial correctly is key. You want to make sure you have time to tweak and adjust, and that you walk out of the salon feeling like a bride.

So when should you get on my calendar?

I recommend booking your trial around 3 months in advanced. It’s also a great idea to book it the morning of a special event day such as a bridal shower or bachelorette party. This way, you’ll really be able to see how it wears, how it photographs, and how your skin reacts.

We can also schedule another trial closer to the big day if anything needs to be tweaked or adjusted since we would have ample time.

The Inspo

When looking for inspiration for bridal makeup- less is more. A soft, neutral glam usually is best. You want to feel flawless and pretty, but definitely still feeling comfortable and yourself. I recommend looking back at pictures where you felt beautiful and see how your makeup looked in those pictures. Your wedding day is not the time to try a completely new makeup look you’ve never done.
