BEAUTY co.
The best project you will ever work on is yourself. Beauty isn’t just how you look. It’s how you feel, it’s how you act. It comes from within. Beauty is an attitude.
Hey Ya’ll! It’s me- Liz.
Your go-to girl for all things beauty.
Welcome to my page, I’m so glad you’re here! Here’s a little about me and my journey to becoming an entrepreneur of a beauty business. It’s a long one.. so grab a snack, a glass of wine, and enjoy! Make sure to click that “Schedule Your Appointment” button at the end!
My passion for creating beauty in everything around me started at a very young age. Polishing rocks to turn them into “gems”, simply braiding the main or tail of our horses on the farm, to wearing heels to church on a Thursday morning (even though I was in a class of all boys!) and then take them off to play football at recess. A tomboy at heart, but an outward artist of beauty. Quite the combo.
In high school, sports were life. I was consistently a 2-3 sport athlete, so practices and games took up a lot of time! I participated on some amazing state-winning teams where I learned a lot about teamwork and having each others back.
Besides sports, you could absolutely call on me to do all the hair and makeup for my friends for the school dances (and even before our games you could catch me doing hairstyles for the girls-I’ve always been a fan of being a badass with physical activity and looking good while doing it haha) which lead to attending cosmetology school in Green Bay, WI back in 2012.
As soon as I graduated beauty school I moved down to Southern Florida where I wanted to feel the warmth and magic of the ocean. I wanted to be able to run in the heat every morning, try my hand at hot yoga, and discovered I’m completely obsessed with paddle-boarding. My training and experience in the beauty industry grew here. I worked for a wedding salon where we traveled SW Florida for brides, doing various updo’s and makeup applications that could withstand the Florida heat and the intense humidity.
I later moved to Colorado where I started working for the world famous makeup company- MAC. I had extensive training in makeup applications and my skill and passion for cosmetics grew even stronger. I participated in many workshops in Denver and worked for special events like military balls, fundraisers, weddings, and photo shoots.
My interest and love for makeup grew so strong with MAC, that I wanted more training. You could find me at various makeup shows in Chicago and Miami, and attended The Makeup School- Chicago, to further my education in a flawless airbrush look. While in Chicago, I also did trainings with Lavish Lash and was later certified as a permanent eyelash technician in 2017.
After moving across the country, I ended up moving back home to Wisconsin where I was born and raised. This is where my first beauty business, my baby, EBA, was born. EBA stands for Elizabeth Burke Artistry.
My entire family still lives in Wisconsin and where I’m from is a very small, and absolutely gorgeous, small town. I hit the road running, consistently doing the hair and makeup for beautiful brides from near and far.
As wonderful as my hometown is, my sense of adventure kept developing and I made the announcement that I would be moving to Alaska in 2018.
I didn't think I would completely fall in love with Alaska the way I did. It is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The mountains. The ocean. It's home for me. I feel the magic all around and not to mention the many consistent aesthetically pleasing views. Not only is Alaska beautiful to look at, but I’ve made a connection with the people here. I met my husband while fishing on the Kenai River and we now have a beautiful little girl together and a house we call “home”. Everyone has a story, all beautiful in a different way.
I started working with an incredible Aveda salon called Halo where I learned so much, built a clientele, shared many tears and laughs with lifelong friends. This salon helped me rekindle my passion for being behind the chair and encouraged me to keep growing and learning as an artist. After 3.5 years there, getting Aveda Color Certified and Masterclass Certified with professional clean beauty- Jane Iredale The Skincare Makeup (Scottsdale, AZ), I made the decision to take a leap of faith and start my business.
It’s a beautiful thing when you’re inspired this much by someone, a company, and/or a place.. and then given the tools and education to feel confident in taking on your own business.
My goal here at Embry Beauty Co. is to make everyone feel as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside. As soon as you step into the salon and take a seat in my chair, I can feel the energy and attitude of my clients. Some need a safe space to take a load off and relax. Others come in and we don’t stop talking during an entire 3 hour appointment. It’s all beautiful in it’s own way and the empath in me is here for you. Let’s make the world a beautiful place together, one person at a time. On the inside and the out.
