I’d love to share a little about my journey to becoming a salon owner. It’s a long one, so grab a snack, pour a glass of wine, and enjoy! My passion for creating beauty in everything around me started young. From polishing rocks into “gems” and braiding my horses’ manes on our farm to insisting on wearing heels to church (even in a class full of boys!) only to kick them off for a game of football at recess. A tomboy at heart, but an artist of beauty on the outside. Quite the combo. In high school, sports were everything. As a two-to-three-sport athlete, my life revolved around practices and games. Being part of state-winning teams taught me the value of teamwork and always having each other’s backs. But beyond sports, I was *the* go-to for hair and makeup before school dances- and even before games! I’ve always loved the balance of being physically strong *and* looking good while doing it.

That passion led me to cosmetology school in Green Bay, WI, in 2012. After graduating, I craved adventure and moved to Southern Florida, where I embraced the warmth of the ocean, hot yoga, and my obsession with paddleboarding. Professionally, I worked for a bridal salon, traveling across Southwest Florida to create updos and makeup looks that could withstand the heat and humidity. Next, I landed in Colorado, working for the world-renowned MAC Cosmetics. My skills in makeup artistry grew through extensive training, workshops, and special events like military balls, fundraisers, weddings, and photoshoots. Wanting to expand my expertise, I attended makeup shows in Chicago and Miami and completed advanced airbrush training at The Makeup School - Chicago. During this time, I also became a certified Lavish Lash technician in 2017. Eventually, I found myself back home in Wisconsin, where I launched my first beauty business, **Elizabeth Burke Artistry (EBA)**. My small-town roots kept me busy with stunning brides from all over, but my adventurous spirit was calling again- this time, to Alaska. I never expected to fall in love with Alaska the way I did. The mountains, the ocean, the untouched beauty… it’s truly magical. But more than the landscape, it’s the people that have made this place home. I’ve put down roots here, and now, I have a beautiful daughter who inspires (and challenges) me every day to be the best version of myself.

Shortly after moving to Alaska, I joined an Aveda salon where I learned so much, built an incredible clientele, and shared countless laughs and heartfelt moments with lifelong friends. It was here that my love for being behind the chair was reignited. Over 3.5 years, I became Aveda Color Certified and Masterclass Certified with Jane Iredale The Skincare Makeup (Scottsdale, AZ). Inspired by the knowledge, training, and passion I had gained, I took a leap of faith and opened my own salon. Thus, Honey + Sage Salon and Spa was born! My goal here is simple: to help every client feel as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside. Whether you need a peaceful space to unwind or a lively conversation during your appointment, I’m here for you. Every story is unique, every transformation is special.
